Board of Directors

The Board of Directors has responsibility for oversight of the school and empowers the Executive Director to lead school operations. Board members are elected by family members and at least 2 of the 5 Directors at any time are parents or guardians of students in the school. Each family of a child currently enrolled at Great Work Montessori School shall have one vote in electing Board Directors. Board members will be elected on a rolling schedule, so that turnover will be gradual.  Contact the board via e-mail at [email protected]

Gabriela García-Marroquín, Board President
Gabriela García-Marroquín is a parent—her boys are currently attending Great Work Montessori. As a parent, she is committed to this community. This is her family’s third year at Great Work, and she loves being part of this school. It has reassured her how important it is to value the human spirit and the development of the whole child socially, cognitively, and emotionally. She feels that her children are discovering their true potential through challenging experiences by owning their learning. Gabriela is currently a Dual Language instructional coach as well as the school coordinator of a Dual Language program in a Jeffco elementary school. She has been an educator for 17 years with experience in K-12 education. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver with a Spanish major and K-12 teaching license. She also holds a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Spanish language, Culture, Literacy and Grammar from University of Northern Colorado. Gabriela is also certified as a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Educator. Gabriela strongly believes in advocacy for diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice no matter who walks in the door at GWMS, she is committed to honor our school mission, because our mission is what drives our work. In addition, Mrs. García has experience serving as a Board Member at the State level in the Child Care licensing Advisory Committee (LAC). Overall Gabriela is looking forward to continuing to serve the GWMS community and grow as a board leader and as an advocate for Montessori for ALL.
